Flood water are rising on Pensacola Beach due to Hurricane Ike. What most homeowner don’t know is that 1 inch of flood water can ruin your home if not properly taken care of. The water gets inside your walls, studs, and insulation. Especially salt water can deteriorate bolts that are holds your studs together. Simply removing the drywall and insulation doesn’t completely taken care of the problem.

Once water gets to the studs, it soaks in. Air drying the studs would take months–and even then they may not be dry.

Get a professional moisture evaluation of your home before rebuilding. We will measure the moisture amounts in your walls and tell you if they are at a safe level.

After Hurricane Ivan, we saw many homes that failed to do this. Some had mold and wood rot inside their walls within weeks.

What YOU Must Do:
4 Steps YOU Must Take

1. Don’t panic. You’ve already made the right first move by calling a professional.
2. Make sure the source of the water is stopped and problem fixed.
3. Remove anything that will be effected by moisture.
4. Make a list of damaged items to turn in to your adjuster.

Please note: If you call a professional immediately, the possibility for further damage is minimized. Most homeowner insurance policies encourage the homeowner to call a professional to prevent further damage.
